Close to all amenities, peaceful home from home, Elim House was built from lakeland stone in 1849 as a gentleman's residence and has been a B & B since 1946, as such it has no elevator. We cater mainly for couples looking for a relaxing break. Please note that there are several stairs as the house covers 3 floors. Vegetarians catered for & others with dietary needs by prior arrangement. Excellent breakfast, 4 poster beds for that special occasion, gay friendly, limited private parking & on-street parking, anglers welcome. Minimum 3 nights bank holidays, 2 nights any other weekend. Built in 1650 as a coaching inn, and referred to in Wordsworth’s poem ‘The Waggoner’, the Macdonald Swan Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the Lake District. Chestnut Villa was originally built in 1904, as a Coaching Inn and is situated on the edge of the picturesque 'honeypot' village of Grasmere. Holmlea is in a quiet location of Bowness with only a few minutes stroll to the centre with its specialist shopping for fashion, food, arts and crafts. Bowness boasts great cafes, restaurants and pubs and is situated on Lake Windermere with the famous Windermere Lake Cruises. A stay at Holmlea is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday and is the ideal base for visiting the many attractions within the Lake District National Park. Take a stroll around the marina or lake shore walk. There are tennis courts, crazy golf and an 18 hole pitch and putt area or just simply picnic on Glebe park and admire the breathtaking scenery across the lake.
